What is Eurograde 1 - EN 1143-1?
EN1143-1 is a European security standard for security safes and cabinets. Rigorous tests are undertaken so that it meets the standards of EN1143-1.
Insurance companies require the fixing of a Eurograde safe to be the anchored into a concrete floor or solid wall.
Cash and Valuables Required
Each Eurograde safe has a cash rating and valuables rating. The valuables rating is always 10 times the value of the cash rating.
We always recommend to have a safe that more than covers what you are planning to store within the safe. As you may purchase or store more cash/valuables in the future.
Your insurers may also recommend a certain or minimum insurance rating when purchasing a safe. Many Eurograde safes all come with a fire rating included.
When selecting a safe it is also important to consider the size and capacity of the safe you require. Measuring the dimensions of the space that the safe is due to be placed in is crucial as you need to make sure that the safe will be suited to the space you have.
*Please Note* When measuring the depth, please ensure that you take into consideration the size of the external hinges, handles and lock size.*
The selection of a locking type when purchasing eurograde 1 safes is more based upon your personal preference and needs. Either a key or electronic lock offers the same level of protection.
It is more based upon on the ease of use with either hiding the key or using a digital electronic lock. This can be more useful if there are a number of users requiring access to the safe.
Approved by the Association of Insurance Surveyors or AiS
AiS (Association of Insurance Surveyors) are one of the leading accreditation bodies within the UK. Your insurance company may request your safe prior to purchase to be AiS Approved.
On SimplySafes all the AiS Approved Safes have the certification logo on the image of each product.
Location of your Eurograde 1 Safe
When selecting a Eurograde 1 safe for your home or office, it is important to also consider the location of the safe prior to purchasing the safe. It could be on the ground floor, upstairs, in a wardrobe, cupboard, etc.
Taking some measurements of your proposed location is important as you would not want a heavy safe being delivered to your address for the safe to not fit into your desired location.
Installation and Anchoring
Installing of a Eurograde 1 safe is normally a requirement from your insurance company after the purchase of a safe has been completed. If you require your safe to be professionally installed then please contact us for further information and advice.
Installation can be completed by yourself if you have the appropriate tools to complete the anchoring.
It is always important to take into consideration the weight of each Eurograde 1 safe, as without the correct equipment they can be very difficult to manoeuvre and position.
At SimplySafes we offer free delivery to all UK Mainland areas with each order on a pallet delivery service.
