What is a Fireproof Filing Cabinet?

A fireproof filing cabinet has been designed to store paper documents along with protecting paper from fire damage. Each filing cabinet will have a different level of resistance tested against them, for example the Phoenix Vertical Fire File FS2254F has been certified by SP class 90 Paper according NT Fire 017. Which means that it has 90 minutes of fire protection for paper documents.

The different levels of fire protection range from either 60, 90 or 120 minutes of fire resistance.

Locking Type – Each filing cabinet will come supplied with a different locking type such as a cylinder key lock, electronic lock or electronic lock with fingerscan. It is important to determine which locking type fits in best with your business or day to day working. You may be working in a large organisation where several members of staff require regular access to the fire cabinets.

Or you may be working in a small office and only a few members of staff require access to the fireproof filing cabinets so a key lock might be preferred.
