What is a Fireproof Filing Cabinet?
A fireproof filing cabinet has been designed to store paper documents along with protecting paper from fire damage. Each filing cabinet will have a different level of resistance tested against them, for example the Phoenix Vertical Fire File FS2254F has been certified by SP class 90 Paper according NT Fire 017. Which means that it has 90 minutes of fire protection for paper documents.
The different levels of fire protection range from either 60, 90 or 120 minutes of fire resistance. Fireproof filing cabinets provide greater peace of mind for the protection of paperwork within offices.
Which Fire Filing Cabinet to Select?
When choosing the most appropriate fire resistant filing cabinet for your office or business it is important to take into consideration the following-
Fire Rating – Each fireproof file cabinet will have a different range of protection against fire, so please consider which fits in with your requirements and needs from your business or insurance company.
- 60 Minutes Fire Protection - Certified by SP class 60 Paper according NT Fire 017
- 90 Minutes Fire Protection - Certified by SP class 90 Paper according NT Fire 017
- 120 Minutes Fire Protection - Certified by SP class 120 Paper according NT Fire 017
Drawers – At SimplySafes we provide either two, three or four drawer units which can be used to store all of the documents you require. Please calculate the drawer capacity for each unit against the volume/size of documents you require to store.
Lateral or Vertical – The two different types of fire document cabinets to choose from would either be the lateral or vertical layout. The most common selection would be a vertical filing cabinet which allows several units to be lined up next to each other if these units are being positioned within an office environment. We also offer a lateral filing cabinet as an alternative option which allows the storage of larger documents and folders to be stored in one place.
Locking Type – Each filing cabinet will come supplied with a different locking type such as a cylinder key lock, electronic lock or electronic lock with fingerscan/fingerprint. It is important to determine which locking type fits in best with your business or day to day working. You may be working in a large organisation where several members of staff require regular access to the fire cabinets.
Or you may be working in a small office and only a few members of staff require access to the fireproof filing cabinets so key locking might be preferred.
As an alternative we do provide a fireproof cabinet instead if you require more space to store belongings and valuables within a businsess. These provide larger volumes along with the feature of fire protection too. Please see our range here.
Delivery and Position Service for a Fire Safe File Cabinet
Due to the manufacturing process and materials used in each fire proof file cabinet, this then allows each unit to be heavy when moving the cabinet. We would highly recommend to select delivery and position service when completing your order due to the size and weight of the filing cabinets.
We offer Free UK Mainland Delivery on all orders of fireproof filing cabinets via a pallet drop off service.
