Gun Safes
Gun safes are an essential requirement for those who wish to store firearms securely. We offer an extensive range of products from the leading suppliers in the UK, these are ideal to store shotguns, rifles and ammunition.
What is the Best Brand for a Gun Safe?
At SimplySafes we have an excellent choice for different Brands of Gun Safes in the UK. Brattonsound were established in 1982 and are well known for firearms security and storage. Their range starts from 2 gun capacity and goes right up to a 28 gun capacity cabinet. All of the products offered from Brattonsound have been manufactured in the UK and include a 3 year warranty.
We would highly recommend to purchase a gun safe for storing your firearms not only for safety purposes, but to keep your valuable guns secure in one location. Ammunition also needs to be stored seperately in a lockable compartment in line with UK Law.
The British standard for a gun safe is BS7558/92, so we would always recommend to purchase a safe that meets these standards as a minimum. See our Top 5 Gun Safes of 2022 Blog.
Lock Type and Capacity
We can offer gun safes with a variety of different locking mechanisms with key lock being the most common. On some of the larger capacity gun cabinets we can provide an electronic lock to keep your guns and ammunition secure. When selecting a gun cabinet it is also important to consider the amount of guns you require to store, as over time you may want to increase your gun collection.
Types of Gun Safes Available at SimplySafes
Construction of Gun Safes
Gun cabinets have been built and tested to different standards throughout the ranges available. The level of gun security on your gun safes is important, this is due to the value and security risk that firearms can hold.
A gun cabinet in the UK should be built to the standard of BS7558/92 for gun security. This is a British Standard for regulation. If you buy a gun safe that is not suitable, then the Police may not sign this off when they visit for an inspection.
Deciding on the location or room that the safe is going to be placed is important. This is so that the gun safe you are looking to purchase will have enough room in the area along with suitable wall or floor space for installation.
Dimensions of Gun Cabinets
The range of different gun safes available on the current market is excellent. We would highly recommend deciding on the type of weapons that you are planning to store inside the safe. This is due to some cabinets being purposely designed for rifles or shotguns so have extra height internally.
Some safes do include lockable ammo boxes at the top of the safe, but we do offer ammunition safes on their own if required.
What is the Best Location to Put a Gun Safe?
Government guidelines for storing guns include that it should be kept in a room or area that does not have direct access to the outside of a building, also that it should not be situated in a garage, shed or other outside building and wherever possible should be fixed to a wall that is built from bricks or concrete blocks, or fixed to a floor.
Installation of a Gun Safe
The installation of a gun cabinet is also one of the most important considerations, as your local firearms officer might have to visit your property to see if the gun safe has been installed and located correctly. This is so that you have followed the regulations for storing guns and ammunition.
Our professional installation team can offer this service to provide greater peace of mind for the storage of your valuable guns. Installation can also be completed after the delivery of the gun safe has taken place by yourself.
