Gun Cabinets
Our selection of gun security products includes Shotgun Cabinets, Rifles Safes, Ammunition Safes and Gun Cabinets. When purchasing a gun or ammunition safe you may have to comply with your local firearms officer in terms of the secure storage of guns and firearms.
Keeping guns secure in a gun cabinet is not only crucial for safety reasons but it is also important for value purposes. Many guns are very expensive in price and they can also have sentimental value attached to the owner or family.
Police Approved Gun Cabinets
BS7558 is the British standard for gun cabinets in terms of the manufacturing process and construction. There is currently no requirement to meet these standards when purchasing a gun safe but if the gun cabinet you choose complies to these standards then it helps when your local firearms officer visits.
Sold Secure is an independent tester for security products in the UK, we have a selection of different firearms cabinets that meet either the bronze, silver or gold standard for gun cabinets. These tests equal and go beyond the standard of BS7558.
Gun Cabinet Capacity
When choosing a gun cabinet it is important to consider the amount of guns that you require to store in a cabinet at one time.
- How many do you have at present?
- Are you looking to expand your assortment in the near future?
- What is the size and dimensions of your firearms?
All the above questions are things that you should consider before the purchase of a gun safe. The most popular gun safe we sell currently at SimplySafes is a 10 gun cabinet. The type of locking mechanism you choose for your cabinet is another thing to contemplate, the most common is key locking for gun safes, but we also do provide ones with electronic locking.
Storing Guns and Gun Security
The legislation and law in the UK requires a gun cabinet to be securely anchored to the wall or floor. The Police will arrange a visit to your property to sign this off once this has been completed. A gun safe will also need to comply with the British Standard of BS7558.
The range of different gun safes available will cater for all types of guns that you may have. Please measure your weapons prior to placing an order, this is so that the height and width will be suitable. As shotguns and rifles normally have extra height in comparison to other guns.
Where to Secure a Gun Cabinet?
Any item purchased will need to be fixed to a solid surface to ensure you meet guidelines for firearms and not sited in full view of a window to ensure passers-by are not alerted to the presence of guns being stored.
Depending on the type of surface you are fixing too will influence the type of bolt you will need, some models are provided with bolts for concrete. Please check with your local firearms officer for full details of fixing and siting your gun cabinet.
We offer a Free UK Mainland pallet delivery service on all gun cabinets. Please do not hesitate to contact one of our sales team for further help or advice.
